The Russian Rise

If the West seems to be maintaining the stand that Russia invited its own international isolation owing to its deep cut throat policies ,these are just mere signs of shivers across the west and what better can explain them than the 'Russian rise' itself. The justifications of cold war ending with the Soviet unions break up was a gimmick from the west's hat which wanted to assure itself that it was not haunted by the ghosts of the Soviet union which now comes in the form of Russia . If one thinks the Russian economy began to rise during the Putin era ,then one might be mistaken to think so as the revival had well started during the Boris Yeltsin term itself ,though the results not visible then , he certainly saw the future and tailored it perfectly for it be a supreme power to reckon with once again ,though this has been time consuming , the results are showing gradually.

The 'Georgia episode' marked the end of attempted diplomacy from the Russian side towards the west which hardly took part in the Georgian issue and rather looked to be on the other side negating the Russian interests. Now that post coldwar era seems to be ending , another cold war seems to be on the cards . The middleeast would be one region looking forward to a stable Russia in order to counterattack the west , certainly this would imply the beginning of a whole new picture in all

Impact on India -- now the nuclear deal certainly doesn't just signify a historic deal , it adds to the already boiling scenario, the United states played its cards by galloping an emerging power in its bandwagon (India) , and the old allie of the Soviet union seems to have parted ways with it at a time when the friendship could have been mutually beneficial . But for the deal's sake I would say that the ties with the United states would hopefully bring laurels to our country ,but we need to be cautious as our new allie has had a ill reputed past for deserting its allies after its use, hopefully we dont join that club...

Running mates or limping mates??

The first meaningful decision by both the Presidential candidates has been taken , sans the regular promises,plans & change they usually talk of,both Obama and Mccain have chosen their running mates. Obama has shown great responsibility in choosing the perfect candidate(Joseph Biden) who would be just a heartbeat away from presidentship . On the contrary what was Mccain thinking ?He chose Sarah Palin to be his immediate subordinate contradicting all the statements he has made in the last 6 months in the agony against Obama . His claim about Obama's thin resume,readiness to lead the country and a not so known background have just vanished in thin air owing to his choice of Sarah Palin,who herself is not the most qualified and experienced people in the republican party .

If Mccain wanted to cash in the female votes , there were quiet a few ladies who exhibit immense skill and leadership than Ms Palin herself. While the world was contemplating the popular Governer Bobby Jindal (Indian origin) be named as the vice president candidate by the republicans , the party choose to think out of the box which just turns out to be out of the mind.Also republicans were always known to add to their count with the family values votes ,how is Ms Palin going to justify her 17 yr old daughter being 5 month pregnant as any legitimate family value .The republicans are bogged with an uphill task which seems to be climbing the everest without an end. While I sincerely hope for a close fought battle ,I would eagerly await the result of this bout,as our country's interests also lies in this thrilling race.

Gustav---> a poltical campaign or a human crisis ?

It would be an irony to associate the Gustav with a political situation, hitherto thats how the world's largest democracy would step forward and define it as. As Gustav gears up to be the Successor to the Katrina, the alarming situation has much provoked a political debate which even President George Bush would be contemplating to overcome as he strives to witness the dawn of his government.Crisis Management would pave its way to a political campaign which was unheard of till date.
Ask the republicans who have supposedly called for 'ceasefire' and have asked for the nation to respond to the gustav as one unit. The political implications of this strategy seem too far stretched.While Mccain quotes " He would be the first to hit the soil of the affected areas unlike George bush during katrina who was on a holiday and was running 2 days behind the Katrina - which by then had given up in the wait for our man.

Mccain's moral support and physical presence at the location - does it do any good to a nation which would be thriving for Relief at that time. Except for a few photo shoots and media attention ,Mccain being present at the affected locations would only call for attention rather than action. Remember the firefighters(group which extended a helping hand at the time of Katrina),their first task was to stand beside Bush for a photo shoot when they arrived at the location.Sad,but thats the obstinate ground reality.

In 2005, the response to the Katrina was astronomically different than the one now, This time around the preparations seem to be in place.People have been moved from Louisiana-thanks to the mode of transport available and relief assistance groups which are ready to fight the raging battle with the Gustav. All this for the power which is up for grabs.The democrats for sure are not lagging in this race, though they have maintained a low profile on this issue so far, Obama might be composing another political note on parallel lines as that of Republicans. Cynics like me would view this as 'political chess', the end sufferer of this battle is the human pawn while the administrative troop stays safe and tailors another strategy. I wish to to be proved wrong this time.
